Tian: China’s IP community to blossom during 12th Five Year Plan period

2011-05-24

One of the most important issues of this year’s two sessions is to exam and approve the 12th Five Year Plan for national economy and social development, and China’s IP community is bound to blossom in the years span, said SIPO commissioner Tian Lipu in an interview during the Fourth meeting of 11th National People’s Congress.
As this year is the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan, all circles in the society including IP community are full of expectations for this year’s two sessions. Under the guideline of the plan, China will also formulate a plan for development of IP. The creation, application, protection and management of self-reliant IPR will be promoted with focus on scientific development, accelerating economic transformation development and building an innovation country.
In 2010, China received cumulatively 1.22 million patent applications, 400,000 of which were for invention. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, China will own more and more self-reliant IPRs, stressed the Commissioner.
